Seven Grand Bar and Lounge Downtown Los Angeles
The Seven Grand Bar and Lounge resembles an old-time whiskey lounge – excellent design that makes you appreciate what lounges used to look like many years ago. I walked in on a Thursday and, as is typical, it was just starting to get busy for the evening ahead. The lighting cast a warm glow and folks just seemed to easily flow in like good bourbon into a glass. In fact, this lounge is a prime example of what a whiskey bar should be – rich wood with a sophisticated feel that appeals to everyone and a design scheme that allows people to really relax and enjoy themselves.
The bar itself has plenty of whatever may tickle your fancy – from Macallen to RIP Van Winkle. It is a little pricey but worth the atmosphere to enjoy a fine cigar. Also new to the Seven Grand bar is the Jackalope Room. It is a separate area built to enjoy finer whiskeys, scotches, and cigars. You can also choose to buy a bottle and keep it in the Jackalope Room for your next visit. In addition, it features two very knowledgeable gentlemen that will assist you regardless of whether or not you have purchased a bottle. Seating is on a first come-first serve basis, so be sure to get there early to get prime seating. Elsewhere in the lounge are a few pool tables and, for the cigar lover, a comfortable patio area to enjoy yourself. If you are trying to impress someone, bringing them to the Seven Grand Bar and Lounge would be a very smooth way of doing it!
If you are interested in tastings, the Seven Grand Whiskey Society offers monthly tastings and education of rare whiskies, old and new (hosted by Spirit Guide Pedro Shanahan). Private tastings are also available and those interested in hosting a party or event can contact pedro@213downtown.la.
This is a very hip spot to meet and enjoy a fine cigar with a well drink – highly recommend it!
