Macanudo Inspirado Tercio-Aged Cigar… featured in The Blaze Report.

Brand Profile:

Where many seek innovation and chase the outlandish, we look to our experience to guide us to the exceptional. For Inspirado Tercio-Aged, we applied an Old-World aging technique using large palm bark-wrapped bales, called tercios, to create a cigar that is both contemporary and classic. This time-honored process involves aging the tobacco in the bark of a Royal Palm, locking in the tobacco’s natural flavors. Building and wrapping the tercios requires a special skill possessed by only a few of our most experienced craftsmen and consumes a considerable amount of time. We think you’ll agree that it’s time well spent.

Vitola (Size): 6 x 54

Wrapper: Mexican San Andrés

Binder: Indonesian Bezuki

Filler: Piloto Cubano Seco, Piloto Cubano Ligero, Colombian Seco

Pairs Perfectly With:

Jefferson’s Ocean Aged at Sea Wheated

Jefferson’s Ocean Aged at Sea is fully matured for at least four years, then placed in rickhouses on ships to travel the globe which hyper-ages the bourbon. The constant agitation, weather conditions, and sea-salt air impart a flavor like no other bourbon on the market. As wheat is a softer grain than rye, it allows the flavors that are intrinsic of Ocean voyages to be amplified as it will not compete with those flavors as the spice of the rye does. The only wheated bourbon in the Jefferson’s portfolio. Disclaimer: Voyage number may vary.

The Blaze Report:

Appearance:

This cigar had a deep brown, semi oily and noticeable toothy wrapper. There’s some subtle sweet and tangy notes of cedar and hay on the pre-light nose.  Solid to the touch and light in the hand.

1st Third:

Once lit there was a slight resistance to an effortless draw.  The flavors started balanced on the palate and had a sweet and spicy character.  The burn was slow and nicely even producing a white ash. Hints of some graham cracker notes and a nuttiness in the smell.

2nd Third:

There was a creamy texture on the palate as well as when retro-haling the smoke through the nose with a good amount of black pepper notes lingered in the taste and through the finish of each puff.  Deep flavor tones and characteristic with a sweetness that was backed by spicy notes.

Final Third:

White peppery spices were noticed in the aroma and when retro-haling the smoke through the nose. Some creamy texture alone with black pepper nuances that developed as the cigar was smoke.  This was an easy going cigar that had a lot of nice flavors, balance and a clean finish.

Making the Grade

Final Thoughts:

An outstanding burn with a white ash.  Very well balanced full cigar that intensified in both flavor and body strengths as it was smoked.  There were a lot of spice and wood traits in the flavors and a very slight sweet edge on the back end of each puff.  More earthy tones developed and lingered on the finish.  Satisfying and flavorful cigar that could be enjoyed at any time.
