Woodford reserve double double oaked bourbon
For years, crowds have lined up at Woodford Reserve Distillery each winter chasing the most coveted and elusive product ever created by the iconic Kentucky distillery: Woodford Reserve Double Double Oaked Bourbon. Now, for the first time, Double Double is making its national debut, available in limited quantities. Originally launched as a member of the Distillery Series in 2015, this expression is one of the most sought-after bottles in American Whiskey. The luxury expression is a testament to Woodford Reserve’s dedication to innovation and craftsmanship. Double Double Oaked is handcrafted by finishing fully-mature Woodford Reserve Double Oaked Bourbon for an additional two years in a second, heavily toasted, lightly charred, new oak barrel (hence the name Double Double). The extra time in the barrel creates a bourbon that is distinctly spicier than its original counterpart, which is known for its sweeter taste and finish. Crafted Carefully. Drink Responsibly.

The Blaze Report:
Appearance:
This cigar was solid to the touch and had an effortless draw. Covered with a dark brown, light oily sheen on the wrapper with some noticeable toothiness. A pre-light smell was rich with hints of chocolate covered raisin-like notes that had a tangy sweetness to it.
1st Third:
Once fired up the flavor and aroma had a mix of balanced chocolate and spices. The aroma continued to intensify as the cigar was smoked becoming very rich with an earthy and nutty profile. Some cedar and sweet hay-like notes on the draw which was smooth and effortless.

2nd Third:
There were intriguing spices in the flavor and aroma as soon as the cigar started the 2nd third. Now getting a nice amount of black pepper spice in the nose and the taste, but balanced well with the other flavors.

Final Third:
The burn was slow and extremely even. It produced a good amounts of dense and creamy smoke to the palate with ease. Nutty flavors and aromas were noticed with more cocoa powder and subtle black pepper spices, which were more noticeable in the nose when retro-haling the smoke.

Making the Grade
Final Thoughts:
A creamy texture and mouth feel. The flavor profile built in strength along with the body as the cigar was enjoyed. It was full in flavor with a big luring aroma and a medium body that developed more towards the end. The cigar had refinement and balance with an overall smooth feel to the smoking experience. Outstanding construction and just a fantastic cigar overall.
