San Cristobal Cigar Review

History:

San Cristobal is the cornerstone of Ashton’s mutual endeavors with the Pepin Garcia family in Estelí, Nicaragua.  These cigars have a special sun-grown wrapper that is produced on the Garcia farm in Esteli, Nicaragua. These fine leaves are selected by Pepin and his son Jamie to feature the best of the tobacco that is harvested in Esteli. Prolific growers of fine tobaccos, the Garcias demonstrate a disciplined capacity to surpass industry trends and evolve.

Since San Cristobal was released in 2007, it has been part of one of the world’s premier luxury cigar brands and is enjoyed around the world. Following in the footsteps of Ashton, the name has built a reputation for pleasure beyond expectation.

Appearance:

The San Cristobal has a nice oily brown wrapper that is smooth to the touch. You will notice the triple cap and a floral aroma on the pre-light smell.  It is smooth with some noticeable tooth and a slightly veiny appearance.

Journey Profile:

Right away, the cigar provided a huge amount of aroma that filled the air. An incredibly smooth draw with the slightest resistance delivered full flavored smoke right away.  Very rich notes and some earthy tones were also picked up.  The San Cristobal also surprised me with some chocolate and coffee notes.  From a strength perspective, it is a medium to almost full-body with some complexity along the way.  It all gives way to a small amount of sweetness and a very nice even burn that held onto a long ash.

Final Thoughts:

The San Cristobal maintained an exceptionally rich aroma and consistent flavor. The construction, dense ash and aroma are all very enjoyable.  It delivers complex and tasty flavors that were evident from start to finish.  The San Cristobal was effortless to enjoy and will leave you with a lasting impression.
