Valeroso Cigar review “Primavera line El Estado”
Brand History:
The Cuban legacy of Valeroso Cigars comes from the family of Marie Cabrera, great niece of Gilberto Leon. Gilberto, a legend in both Cuba and the United States, began hand rolling cigars at the tender age of 14 in his native country Havana, Cuba.
Gilberto was one of the first defectors from Cuba and in 1971 he moved to Los Angeles where he founded Leon Cigars, becoming an icon in the community. Known for his fresh, hand rolled cigars; he quickly gained the title of “Best Cigar in LA.”
Marie worked alongside her Uncle Gilberto as he mentored her in the many aspects of making a great cigar. She wants to continue her Uncle’s legacy of creating authentic Cuban cigars with Valeroso.
In doing so, Marie added Sean Hadley to the team. He brings with him a broad knowledge of tobacco, a unique blending style and a passion for a great cigar. Together they have combined the best of both worlds to create a premium cigar that can be enjoyed by both the novice and seasoned smoker alike.
Appearance:
The El Estado has a nice oily brown finish on the wrapper that is smooth to the touch. A unique pre-light smell of dried fruit with some spice.
Journey Profile:
1st quarter: Once lit there was an incredibly smooth draw with no resistance. Quickly introduced to a nice bold flavor right from the start. Some creamy texture along with a slight lingering spiciness through the nose. 2nd quarter: Consistent sweet undertones on the palate continued to impress through the profile. Full flavored smoke to the palate with more creaminess. 3rd quarter: Started to receive woody notes that developed nicely. A small amount of bitterness developed giving a tartness flavor on the palate but did not last long. By middle of the 3rd the El Estado corrected itself and continued to bellow more of its great aroma. 4th quarter: Nice and rich characters continued to develop and had an enticing character with a touch of spice on the finish. Underlying spices continued to linger around on the palate.
Final Thoughts:
The cigar maintained a wonderful aroma from start to finish. Overall an outstanding cigar that is exceptionally luring and well made. Medium body with full flavors that are very aromatic and flavorful. A remarkable cigar and size. A must have and a must try cigar with great quality.
