Luchador Cigar review by Leccia Tobacco “Live For the Moment”
Brand History:
Sam Leccia was inspired to create Leccia Tobacco after a journey that began with a trip to a tobacco farm and cigar factory in Honduras. He was amazed by what goes into creating a handcrafted premium cigar. After the trip, he started taking apart cigars in his garage and making unique blends with them to learn the differences of the tobaccos and their place in the cigar. He has been immersed in the premium cigar industry ever since. “Progression” led him to create Leccia Tobacco. “Progression of our ideas and concepts, Progression of the status quo, Progression of our reach in this world.”
The Luchador is an exotic cigar, made with tobacco from five countries. Handcrafted in Nicaragua, the Luchador contains three tobaccos that are grown in fertile volcanic soil. The available sizes of the Luchador include El Hombre (5×54), El Castigo (6×60), El Guao (6×50), and Loco Perfecto (6×58).
Appearance:
The Leccia Luchador has a gorgeous dark wrapper that is evenly colored. A full and rich pre-light smell with sweet and smoky tones. The Luchador had an old world look and feel.
Journey Profile:
1st quarter: The cigar produced a full aroma right away. There was a very smooth draw that produced plenty of thick clouds of smoke. The aroma continued to intensify. You immediately notice some of the best blends of tobacco from around the world. There were hints of sweetness, and a touch of spice. 2nd quarter: There was a very smooth and gradual introduction of peppery and earthy flavors. Plenty of development of spice through the nose. The earthy flavors remained pronounced and consistent thought-out. 3rd quarter: Some of the spices mellowed, while cocoa and creamy texture was introduced. Outstanding full flavors on the palate and overall flavor with noticeable spice lingered in the nose. 4th quarter: A very full aroma and full flavor that had a lot rich tobacco and earthy characters. Reminiscence of spice through the nose with a consistent sweet tone. Excellent construction with a very even and slow burn. A well rounded texture on the palate right to the end.
Final Thoughts:
Complex yet not over the top. This cigar ended up a full body smoke with a flavorful finish. It will leave an impression of “tasty” and “effortless to enjoy” with a great construction. An easy-going smoke with good characters in its profile. An extremely well-made cigar.
