Pairs Perfectly With:

laphroaig select islay single malt scotch whisky.

This special Laphroaig® is created from carefully selected casks of each of our key styles, stretching back in time – with one notable addition. The heart of the spirit is drawn from a final maturation in new American Oak casks, rarely used for Scotch whisky maturation. For the last six months, maturation takes place in the highest, warmest reaches of our warehouses during the Scottish summer. With spirit selected by our master distiller from Quarter Cask, our PX Cask and Triple Wood (European Oak casks) and a final addition of 10YO, it represents a subtle blending of peat, oak, and sweetness.

The Blaze Report:

Appearance:

This cigar had an attractive brown oily wrapper that was smooth to the touch.  A pre-light nose was rich and sweet with some earthiness.  Some dark fruitiness and hay notes.

1st Third:

There was a very smooth draw that delivered dense clouds of full flavored smoke.  A creamy texture followed by a slight peppery spice on the finish.  Some rich earthy tones with some cedar and cocoa note on the palate and in the aroma.

2nd Third:

Creamy texture continued to develop along with a noticeable great medium body.

The aroma and flavor continued to develop and delivering an earthiness and full flavored, luring character with a subtle yet present bold body.

Final Third:

Mostly even burn that produced a very solid, nearly black ash.  Some peppery spices continued to develop and stay steady but fall some.  There were some hints of earthy tobacco notes and some lightness of creamy flavor on the palate.  The aroma also continued to intensify with a strong earthiness flavor.
