Pairs Perfectly With:
westward single barrel stout cask finished single malt s1b18.
From Lee Diaz, Topflight Series Panel Member: If you can imagine taking everything you love about a Westward American Single Malt, then deepening those rich flavors and kicking up the proof just enough, you would land right here. The nose offers deep, malted chocolate, a hint of espresso, and vanilla. This leads into roasted malts, cacao, brown sugar, and subtle oak, with a smooth lingering finish that, to me, includes a slight nuttiness, caramel, and dark fruit. As an incredibly balanced 118.21 proof release, this pour can easily be sipped neat, opened up with a rock, or enjoyed as a compliment to any of your favorite desserts. TOPFLIGHT: Series 1, Barrel No. 18 PROOF: 118.21 MASHBILL: 100% Malted Barley FINISHING BARREL: Ft. George Brewery

The Blaze Report:
Appearance:
This cigar had a hearty brown wrapper with a rich looking silky feel to it. Solid to the touch with a mild earthy and cocoa aroma on the pre-ight that was also instantly noticeable in the aroma. Clean and subtle pre-light smells with peppery notes.
1st Third:
This cigar had a very smooth and creamy texture on the palate with spiciness in the smoke, especially through the nose. The cigar had a slow and very even burn, producing a dense, light gray ash. Very nice amount of tobacco notes up front with peppery spices in the nose and on the finish were developing.

2nd Third:
Very nice tobacco flavors with cinnamon spice and coffee notes. Dense texture to the smoke with a chewy texture. A very spicy cigar with a complex character. Flavors and aroma continued to develop. Great big clouds of thick white smoke filled the air.

Final 3rd:
Great big clouds of thick white smoke filled the air. More consistent peppery spice through the nose and lingering on the finish. The aroma and flavor continued to develop and intensify, delivering a very rich and full flavored, luring character with a subtle yet present full body.

Making the Grade
Final Thoughts:
Flavors and aroma continued to develop. A medium plus body overall that had a long and flavorful finish. The cigar maintained its structural integrity and had a near flawless burn, exceptional construction. Overall this is an extremely well made, full flavored rich cigar with an outstanding aroma. Extremely good value and effortless smoking experience to the nub.
