FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Due to popular demand, Montecristo is proudly continuing its 90‑year legacy with the Montecristo 90th Anniversary – now evolving from a commemorative launch into an annual limited‑production, small‑batch line in the portfolio.
Initially crafted to celebrate the brand’s 90th anniversary milestone, the cigar’s remarkable reception among collectors and connoisseurs solidified its place as a recurring release.
Developed by Rafael Nodal, VP of Product Capability for Tabacalera USA, in collaboration with the Plasencia family, the Montecristo 90th Anniversary cigar merges Cuban heritage with modern Nicaraguan craftsmanship. This fantastic, fan-favorite blend will now return each year in limited quantities.
“Due to popular demand, we couldn’t let the Montecristo 90th Anniversary cigar be a one‑and‑done limited edition,” said Gabe Diaz, Brand Manager. “The feedback and the demand were so positive, that turning the 90th into a small‑batch, annual limited‑production was the right decision, given what connoisseurs and the trade both demanded.”
This memorable cigar is handcrafted with premium Nicaraguan tobaccos from Plasencia’s fields and features tobaccos from Jalapa, Condega, Estelí and Ometepe. Its medium‑bodied profile delivers rich notes of roasted coffee, dark cocoa, gentle spice and a smooth, creamy finish. Each year’s small‑batch allocation will add to the exclusive line.
“Creating the Montecristo 90th Anniversary was a true privilege,” said Nodal. “Bringing it back annually lets us revisit the golden era of Havana even as we shape the next chapter of cigar making. And honestly, any moment is a worthy moment to celebrate Montecristo’s 90-plus years.”
