Cigar Review: Rich Cocoa, Creamy Smoke & a Powerful Spicy Finish

Some cigars make an impression before the first light, and this one certainly delivered. With its dark, oily wrapper, rich pre-light aroma, and evolving flavor profile, this cigar offered a satisfying smoking experience from beginning to end. Smooth, creamy smoke combined with cocoa, earthy tobacco, and building peppery spice to create a complex cigar that never allowed its strength to overpower the flavors.

Appearance: Dark, Oily & Impressive

This large cigar had a bold, almost menacing appearance, featuring a dark, oily wrapper with a smooth texture and an attractive, even sheen. It felt solid in the hand, with a satisfying weight that suggested quality construction.

Before lighting, the aroma alone was enough to capture the senses. Rich cocoa, fermented tobacco, and deep, hay-like notes created an inviting pre-light experience that made you eager to see what the cigar would deliver.

First Third: Smooth, Creamy & Rich

Once lit, the cigar immediately filled the air with a rich aroma of subtle spices, cocoa powder, and earthy tobacco. The draw was effortless, offering just enough resistance to make each puff comfortable and controlled.

As the smoke developed, sweet graham cracker notes and nuttiness emerged in the aroma, adding another layer to the experience. On the palate, the smoke was creamy and smooth, with very little spice during the opening third.

The combination of cocoa, earthiness, sweetness, and a soft, creamy texture created an excellent introduction. This was a cigar that started confidently without overwhelming the senses.

Second Third: Peppery Spice Takes Center Stage

Moving into the second third, the cigar began to reveal more of its personality. Peppery spice intensified, becoming especially noticeable on the retrohale, where it added a pronounced kick to the experience.

The smoke remained dense and creamy, with a rich, almost chewy texture on the palate. The draw continued to perform exceptionally well, delivering plenty of flavorful smoke with every puff.

Spice began building toward the back of the palate, while peppery characteristics became more prominent through the nose. These developing flavors added complexity without sacrificing the cigar’s smooth character.

This was the point where the cigar truly came into its own, balancing a creamy mouthfeel with a more assertive spice profile.

Final Third: Full Flavor & a Lingering Finish

The final third continued to deliver a rich aroma and a satisfying smoking experience. The cigar burned slowly and evenly, producing a medium-gray ash that reflected its solid construction.

One particularly impressive feature was its ability to remain lit while resting unattended in the ashtray, allowing you to return to it without needing to relight.

As the cigar progressed, its body and strength continued to build, delivering a long, full-flavored finish. Peppery spice remained present in both the aroma and retrohale, complemented by a touch of sweetness.

Toward the end, the sweetness and some of the earlier flavor nuances began to fade slightly as the cigar entered its final stretch. However, the overall experience remained rich, flavorful, and satisfying, with the spice providing a memorable conclusion.

Final Thoughts: A Complex and Well-Crafted Smoke

This cigar delivered an excellent combination of rich aroma, creamy smoke, evolving flavors, and balanced spice. From the opening notes of cocoa and fermented tobacco to the graham cracker sweetness, nuttiness, and growing peppery finish, the cigar offered plenty of complexity to keep the experience interesting.

Construction was another standout. The effortless draw, slow and even burn, and attractive medium-gray ash contributed to a smooth, enjoyable smoking session. Most importantly, the body never overwhelmed the evolving flavors, allowing the cigar’s character to develop naturally throughout the smoke.

The cigar’s greatest strength was its full-flavored profile paired with a creamy texture. It had an inviting quality that made it easy to enjoy, while the building spice and lingering finish provided enough depth to keep experienced cigar enthusiasts engaged.

Overall, this was an exceptionally enjoyable and well-made cigar that delivered on flavor, aroma, and construction. Whether enjoyed during a quiet afternoon or as part of an evening relaxation ritual, it proved worthy of the time spent appreciating it.

A rich, complex, and beautifully balanced smoke that combines creamy texture, bold flavor, and a memorable spicy finish.
