The Artesanos de Obelisco is the third installment in the Artesanos series. This cigar took its name from the beautiful Monumento a los Heroes de la Restauración, a monument in Santiago, Dominican Republic dedicated to the fallen heroes of the DR revolution. The monument is shaped like an obelisk and so are the cigars, whose unique shape can only be rolled by the factory’s best torcedores.
La Gloria Cubana Artesanos de Obelisco has a dark, oily Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, a Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and aged, robust Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. The Artesanos de Obelisco starts out with a very nice flavor, the strongest being cedar, woods, and spice. The pyramid shape really seems to help the flavors all come together well. Eventually, it gives way to a bold, full-bodied taste and an even burn (half gray ash and plenty of smoke with every puff).
The complexity of the cigar maintains for the entire smoke as does the rich, slightly sweet aroma. You will be able to get bundle of twenty-five cigars in a beautiful half circle-shaped box – great smokes and a good conversational piece.
