“Most expensive yet” My Father Garcia & Garcia Cigar early February 2016.
A new brand from My Father Cigars is slated to hit retailers in early February, and it’s the most expensive smoke they’ve ever released. Dubbed My Father Garcia & Garcia, the brand is positioned as the company’s most high-end cigar to date and was created to celebrate the craftsmanship of Jose “Pepin” Garcia and his son, Jamie. The cigar will come in only one size, a 6 ¾ inch by 54 ring vitola called Toro Deluxe and contains a type of rare tobacco in the filler known as Pelo de Oro.
“This is, for sure, one of our most important projects, “Alicides Montenegro, general manager and creative director at My Father Cigars.
My Father Garcia & Garcia is made with an Ecuadoran Habano Rosado wrapper that blankets a Nicaraguan Criollo 98 binder and Nicaraguan fillers that include a small amount of Pelo de Oro tobacco, Meaning “golden hair,” Pelo de Oro is considered by tobacco farmers to be a challenging strain of tobacco to grow, as the varietal is prone to disease and trends to produce low yields. However, once successfully cultivated, the leaf has traditionally been revered by cigar enthusiasts for its combination of strength and sweetness. The Pelo de Oro in the new cigar was grown by the Garcias in Nicaragua.
The company has not yet disclosed pricing for My Father Garcia & Garcia, but Montenegro notes that the brand “will be their most expensive cigar, so far. More than [our] limited-edition prices.” (For reference, the My Father Limited Edition 2015 5th Anniversary Toro, released in July of 2015 has a suggested retail price of $23.)
My Father Garcia & Garcia are packed in an elegant and luxurious wooden box, which has a simple and timeless design that asserts a bold, yet classic style, reminiscent of their original design, which has been greatly enriched with several “Vintage-Classic style” artistic details. The iconic combination of their MF Logo, the brand name and a picture of Father and Son at a rolling table are all elements that combine to showcase the greatness of the cigar.
My Father Garcia & Garcia will ship in wooden boxes of 10. The cigars are rolled at the My Father Cigars S.A. factory in Esteli, Nicaragua.
