Warped was started in 2009 by Kyle Gellis, but the story begins much sooner than that – it actually begins from his childhood. Growing up, Kyle’s father was an avid cigar smoker and would let Kyle pick out his cigar, cut it, and hold the lighter while his father lit his cigar after a long day’s work. He grew up around cigars, cigar accessories, and the lifestyle that accompanied it.
In 2009, they created their first cigar brands, known as Anubis, Osiris, and Private Blend, all made in Miami, FL. From there, they continued producing cigars, including El Titan de Bronze and Casa Fernandez. Their focus is to make premium cigars the only way they were meant to be made – the Cuban way. They are strong believers in keeping old traditions alive while blending in the new. In keeping with their brand, they have also begun designing their own line of cigar accessories and lifestyle products.
This cigar is covered with a great looking, dark brown rustic wrapper. It is both impressive and rich looking with its oily sheen. There is a subtle but rich pre-light smell and a spicy aroma.
1st quarter: Once lit, the boldness of this cigar delivers rich flavors of light pepper and earth. The draw was both smooth and effortless, delivering dense and creamy smoke to the palate. 2nd quarter: Hints of cocoa and sweetness lingered on the palate. Wood and spice notes began to develop. Rich earthy tones with hints of cedar on the palate and in the aroma were also present. 3rd quarter: Flavors of coffee, earth and spices were complemented by more notes of light pepper. Full and well balanced flavors were present, as some underlying sweet notes remained present to balance out the constant spice. 4th quarter: The aroma and flavor continued to develop and intensify. It delivered a very rich, full-flavored and alluring character. Its outstanding overall construction allowed for a fantastic burn and draw. Spice was also consistently present through the nose.
The Warped Corto Cigar is very flavorful, offering a sweet profile with hints of cedar and pepper. It is a fairly complex cigar, developing all the way to the nub and packed with well-balanced flavors. Overall, it is an extremely well made cigar that is full of great flavor and offers a great finish.
