” Spicy pre-light” Blind Man’s Bluff by Caldwell Cigars Review.

Brand History

“Rare Tobaccos, Attention to Quality, Social Consciousness, Flavor First.”  Caldwell Cigars is a company built by friends for friends.  It is owned by Robert Caldwell, who is also known for his connection with Wynwood Cigars.  He has now partnered with William and Henderson Ventura at Tobacalera Venture to make blends for his new cigar company, laboring to bring forth the finest quality product with great attention paid to every detail.  They are setting out to deliver their customers special cigars that use only the finest, most exotic, all Grade-A tobaccos that exist.  Caldwell Cigars are in this for their love of the leaf and their drive to share the fruits of their labor.

The Blind Man’s Bluff has an evenly colored pale brown wrapper with a sweet, earthy and spicy pre-light.  It feels good to the touch and offers a slightly sweet cedar aroma on the wrapper.

 Journey Profile:

1st quarter: Once lit, there is a presence of some sweetness and a rich cocoa texture.  A cedar texture was also introduced after about five minutes.  A bean-type texture with an intriguing aroma and earthy notes also came through.  2nd quarter: Smooth creamy textures and unique spice flavors began to hit the palate.  You can start to feel the strength moving toward a medium body while simultaneously introducing creamier, cocoa flavors along the journey.  3rd quarter: A consistent creaminess in the characters and texture remained in tact.  The bean texture continued lingering in the profile as well.  Hints of hay texture and more sweetness played a role in the development through the nose and on to the palate.  4th quarter: Noticeable spices increased their presence as the strength of the cigar began to tone itself down.  There were also sweet flavors, earthy notes and tobacco tones that lingered on the palate and the bean texture still remained evident.  Plenty of dense, creamy smoke remained to the finish.

Final Thoughts:

Blind Man’s Bluff offers sweet, earthy and spicy flavors that are noticeable throughout the cigar and traverse the nose and palate.  Its medium body builds as the cigar is smoked.  Packed with solid characters, its slow and even burn held onto an average ash.  Overall it has nice construction and is very well made.
