Cigar of the month February 2016: Aging Room F59 Quattro Cigar.

Brand History

Boutique Blends Cigars was introduced to focus exclusively on the production and distribution of boutique brand cigars, including the Swag Puro Dominican and the Aging Room Small Batch Cigars.  The project started at the end of 2010 with the introduction of the now popular Swag Puro Dominican and later the Aging Room Small Batch M356.  Other Small Batch and controlled production lines have been released, like the Aging Room Small Batch Quattro F55.  Boutique Blends is a laboratory for the introduction of new and exciting blends to meet the ever-expanding palates of cigar smokers in the USA and around the world.  As Rafael Nodal notes, “We are not producing cigars for everyone.  We are introducing new blends for educated consumers that are looking for cigars with complexity and character.”

Appearance:

This cigar has a dark brown, hearty wrapper with plenty of noticeable oils and a rich feel.  A sweet floral pre-light aroma was present with hints of hay-like notes.  There were also hints of soft cedar, spice and a light roast.

 Journey Profile:

1st quarter: Once lit, there was a remarkably smooth draw that provided large, thick clouds of smoke.  Right away there were sweet flavors and its noticeable spices were introduced in the nose and on the palate.  A creamy texture with a light body and mild flavors were easily detectable.  2nd quarter: The strength began to increase somewhat.  More spices joined the profile as I continued to smoke it down.  Creamy smoke appeared with even more spice through the nose.  There were hints of cocoa and more delicious sweetness along with spice and some earthiness in the aroma.  3rd quarter: Full flavors came along with the flavorful aroma.  It had a very good complexity and this portion of the cigar had a well-balanced start.  Creaminess remained consistent in the F59 profile and characters.  4th quarter: A medium-full body continuously grew as the cigar developed, offering big earthiness and tobacco notes.  Spices remained through the nose and lingered on the palate.

.

Final Thoughts:

The Aging Room F59 Quattro had a nearly flawless construction and was very well made.  It was complex yet balanced; packed with great character and big enjoyable flavors; and it remained very flavorful with a great developing body.
