“Bold aroma” Dunhill Heritage Cigar Review.

Brand History

Dunhill Cigars were produced in Cuba by Cubatabaco for Alfred Dunhill of London from 1982 to 1991.  It was later offered in various countries afterwards, and it is now owned by British American Tobacco.

Dunhill Cigars has a rich history.  Its founder, Alfred Dunhill, opened his first tobacco shop in 1907 on Duke Street in London and quickly became famous in England, racking up distribution deals with many Cuban manufacturers.  Dunhill cigars were actually the cigar of choice for the famous and the royal family.

Throughout the decades, Dunhill has used its expertise to source the world’s finest tobaccos for their cigars.  Today, Dunhill is manufactured and distributed by General Cigar Company which is one of the world’s foremost manufacturers and marketers of premium cigars.  Their artisans in the Dominican Republic, Honduras, and Nicaragua are passionate about handcrafting their iconic products to maximize the cigar smoking experience.  General Cigar’s portfolio of acclaimed brands also includes Macanudo, Cohiba, Partagás, La Gloria Cubana, CAO, Hoyo de Monterrey, Excalibur and Foundry.

This cigar has a gorgeous dark brown wrapper.  It is rich looking and reddish with an oily sheen.  There is also a bold aroma of earthiness, spice and hay.  The pre-light aroma was full of sweet and cocoa tones.

 Journey Profile:

1st quarter: An extremely smooth draw produced thick clouds of smoke.  There were spices present through the nose and in the aroma and a light creamy texture started to develop.  Its effortless draw also delivered density and pepper to the palate.  2nd quarter: There were good earthy tones on the palate and the continued smooth draw allowed a full aroma into the air.  Hints of creamy texture were detectable in the smoke, and it also offered light spice and pepper notes through the nose.  3rd quarter: While a full and earthy texture remained, its rich notes were noticeably reduced.  A spicy character accompanied the earthy tobacco notes.  Its solid construction produced a long, slightly flaky, and salt-and-pepper colored ash.  4th quarter: Spices developed through the nose, offering full flavor with a unique quality.  Big earthy flavors remained consistent from start to the finish.  The aroma continued to deliver richness with some alluring sweetness.

Final Thoughts:

The Dunhill Heritage cigar offers plenty of flavors with bold character and a great medium body.  It has an earthiness with spicy notes and the aroma maintained a very rich and alluring texture.  It is very well made with a great aroma, easy on the palate and easy to enjoy.
