Pura Soul Cigars is a premium cigar company which successfully debuted their Nicaraguan Puro by Mr. Robert Wright in 2013, distributed by C.L.E. Cigar Company. Mr. Wright has been a jazz musician for over forty years and a fixture in the premium cigar industry for thirty years. Pura Soul Cigars is the end result of a lifetime of passion, honesty and determination combined and assembled into a blend that the smoker can experience. As Mr. Wright says, “Pura Soul is much more than a cigar you smoke, but rather an experience I wish to provide.”
In August 2014, Pura Soul Cigars has announced a second release that launched at the 2014 IPCPR. The new blend is a Honduran Puro coming from the well regarded Jamastran Valley produced by the Eiroa family at Camp Aladino. Pura Soul Cigars is also revamping the look on the shelves – the boxes will be exhibiting a vibrant new look with the silhouette of Mr. Wright wielding his saxophone.
A brief biography of Robert Wright:
Mr. Wright has worked in the cigar industry for over 30 years. He has worked for such companies as Swisher Int’l, Inter Continental Cigar Co., Camacho and Davidoff, just to name a few. Each of these companies are highly respected in the industry and known for producing top of the line products.
Robert is student of the tobacco process from crop to shop. He has made numerous visits to various farms and cigar factories in Honduras, Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. He has taken all of these experiences and incorporated them into one concept that defines his blend.
He is also a talented musician who puts into his cigars the same passion, dedication and respect that he has for music. Robert has played the saxophone for over 40 years and he finds joy in collaborating with other talented musicians and playing at concerts and other events.
When asked about his craft, Mr. Wright responded, “Music has the ability to express the emotions that words simply cannot. It has the power to combine our physical, emotional and spiritual essence into an occasional timeless groundbreaking, masterpiece.” Now keeping that in mind, try to imagine such sounds while enjoying your Pura Soul cigar. The synergistic combination of a good cigar and the right music will contribute to the ambiance in a social setting and or offer tranquility and serenity when alone.
According to Mr. Wright it has the ability to allow the smoker to get in tune with the spirit of the moment and or just decompress. “All I ask is that you faithful cigars smokers and even the non-smokers try this cigar. Maybe even with a classic jazz selection or blues of your choice in the background. You will not be disappointed.”
The wrapper has an almond brown color with a very subtle pre-light smell. The cigar had a nice firm feel and a light, sweet hay-like smell.
1st qtr: This cigar has a firm construction with no resistance to the draw. It offers some spicy flavors followed by a hearty texture in the smoke right from the start. It progressed slowly into some earthy notes on the palate and was followed by plenty of dense white smoke in the air. 2nd qtr: You will start to get mild sweetness and a continued spice through the nose. The flavor is very unique and the cigar itself gave a near flawless burn. 3rd qtr: In this portion of the cigar, there was plenty of creamy smooth texture and flavor and even more spiciness crept in to play. 4th qtr: Holding onto a long and light colored ash, the Pura Soul grew into an exciting full flavor and body intensity. Its bold earthiness was balanced out with a smooth richness, ending in a long and flavorful finish.
The Pura Soul has excellent construction and provided an even burn that remained steady all the way to the cap. It has a great flavor profile with plenty of spice, earthiness and rich aroma. Overall, it is a full-flavored medium body cigar with an intriguing quality and a truly enjoyable smoke.
