Brand History

Lavida Habana (LH) Premium Cigars has recently announced that their line of premium cigars will now be available to the United States market.  The LH Premium Cigar line was developed by tobacconists Nick Syris and Omar Nasr. LH started as an offering for private clientele for Lavida Habana lounges but the cigars soon were distributed throughout the Middle East.  After several years of being available in the Middle East, the LH Cigar line has come to American shores. Syris and Nasr already had hardened Cuban cigar palettes, and the LH Cigar offerings sought to capture the characteristics of a traditional Cuban cigar.  The LH Premium Cigar line is produced at the company’s factory in Costa Rica.  The LH line is offered in three wrapper choices: Claro (Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade), Colorado (Ecuadorian Habano), and Maduro (Ecuadorian Criollo).  The blends incorporate tobaccos from Nicaragua, Peru, and Brazil.  The cigars are packaged in 20 count Spanish cedar boxes.  Each of the three blends are offered in three sizes: LH52 (5 x 52), LH55 (5 1/2 x 55), and LH60 (6 x 60).

Appearance:

This cigar has a nice oily brown wrapper that was very smooth to the touch.  There is a unique pre-light smell of earthiness and hints of cocoa.  I must say that the appearance has an Old Cuban look and appeal.

 Journey Profile:

1st quarter:  The LH has an incredibly smooth draw with only the slightest resistance, and it delivered full flavored smoke instantly.  Right away, the cigar provided a big aroma that filled the room with very rich tobacco notes and good earthy cocoa tones.  2nd quarter:  There was a creamy texture on the palate with some nice spiciness through the nose that slowly grew.  There was a mouthwatering creamy texture with some spices that lingered.  3rd quarter:  You will find consistent sweet undertones on the palate with some woody hints.  A lot of flavor was present but it didn’t overpower the cigar as it lingered in the background.  4th quarter:  The cocoa texture faded and has now transitioned into a mouthful of earthiness.  The aroma continued to develop and offered a consistent hit of spices.  The flavors the culminated with rich and enticing characters that finished it off.

Final Thoughts:

The LH Habana had a very rich character overall.  It has outstanding construction with an impressive slow and even burn that produced plenty of dense, tight gray ash.  This cigar is a medium to almost full body with full flavors that were very aromatic and luring.  Overall, it is an extremely well made and complex cigar with well balanced flavors.
