Herrera Esteli Lancero Cigar by Willy Herrera Review “Authentic Cuban influence”

Brand History:

The Herrera Esteli Nicaraguan series of cigars is blended by Willy Herrera. Since leaving his family’s El Titan de Bronze rolling gallery in Miami, Willy has been working with Drew Estate on this new brand which features a blend of Ecuadorian, Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos.

Herrera Esteli is the brainchild of Willy Herrera, newest member of the Drew Estate team. Willy’s presence at Drew Estate is notable, as he brings an authentic Cuban influence to the team. Herrera Esteli is a medium plus blend that is exceptionally creamy with great balance of spice and sweet. Herrera Esteli will be available at select retailers in 25ct Slide Lid Boxes. The brand will feature five sizes, including the Short Corona Gorda, Robusta Extra, Lonsdale Deluxe, Toro Especial, and Piramide Fino.

The Herrera Esteli Lancero has a hearty brown wrapper that’s rich looking and silky to the touch.  There’s a mild touch of cocoa aroma on the pre-light with a good earthy smell.  The aroma you notice from the very start very appealing.  Evenly colored with a small amount of tooth.

Journey Profile:

1st quarter: Very smooth and effortless draw gave plenty of smoke through to the palate.  Getting some spice through to the nose and unique flavor on the palate.  2nd quarter: There’s some spice through the nose with a good amount of creamy texture.  A slight resistance to the draw but went away and opened up.  A hint of small sweetness and flavor carried over to the flavor and was very present in the aroma.  3rd quarter: Great effortless draw allowed a light bodied smoke through to the palate.  A creamy texture with spices in the nose.  Full flavor characters progressed well into the 3rd giving a very smooth profile.  4th quarter: Earthy characters developed through and lingered on the finish.  There were small amounts of some sweet notes in the aroma.  Cedar notes with more creamy texture and a long light gray ash and some spice develop to the nose.

Final Thoughts:

Consistent spices in the flavor and aroma with some earthiness.  Medium overall body with full flavor characters profile.  A very well made full flavored cigar with underlying spice.
