“Very smooth” El Cedro Maduro Rama (branch) Cigar Review.

Brand History

Anwar Elboustani experienced what he calls “love at first smoke” while stationed in Iraq with the U.S. Navy.  In early 2013, nearly ten years later, Elboustani founded El Cedro Cigars, a new boutique brand inspired by the men and women of America’s armed services.  Born out of love of fine cigars and the good life, Anwar Elboustani has become obsessed with finding the perfect blend.  The name El Cedro (or “The Cedar”) refers to the ancient Mediterranean cedar trees which dot the mountains of Lebanon, some of which date back thousands of years.  “I chose the cedar tree because to me it embodies eternity,” Elboustani said. “I want ‘The Cedar’ to memorialize those who have fallen for the freedom that every American enjoys.”

This brand is dedicated to offering only the finest and freshest cigars.  They take pride in working with one of the finest cigar blenders known in the cigar industry.

El Cedro is a cigar you must celebrate one puff at a time.

There is a very smooth but firm wrapper on the Rama with noticeable oils.  Its unique smell of tobacco, spice and earthy hay-like notes carried over to flavor.  A floral pre-light smell with hints of underlying sweetness was present.

 Journey Profile:

1st quarter: There was a slight resistance on the draw and it developed into thick clouds of spicy smoke that carried through to the palate.  Some wood and spices were detectable in the flavor with a very subtle sweetness both in the aroma and on the finish.  2nd quarter: A slow and even burn produced a nice flaky ash.  There were pleasant tobacco notes with a mix of spice through the nose and a flavorful finish.  It continued to provide big thick clouds of flavorful smoke that lingered.  3rd quarter: There is an earthy and mild flavor with a cedar texture.  While some spice remained in the aroma, there was also an underlying creamy texture along with very nice characters and flavor.  4th quarter: There was a hearty and full flavor build of creaminess as some spice continued to linger on the palate.  A very rich and alluring aroma and flavor dominated the palate right up to the end.  Its overall good construction allowed for a mostly even burn.

Final Thoughts:

El Cedro Maduro Rama offers a medium body smoke that is fairly consistent in both flavor and aroma.  There was a spice in the aroma and a dominating creamy texture.  It is a well-made cigar with a very unique profile; while it has some complexity, it will not overwhelm the palate.
